JIVAN VIGYAN

 

 

Life skills education is an essential component of promoting healthy and socially accepted individuals. Life Skills based education is essential to enable an individual to cope with difficulties in day-to-day life by learning to make informed decisions, solving problems, thinking creatively and critically, building healthy relationships through effective communication and further deal with risk situations. The specialization is well designed to introduce the student to the concept of Life Skills, Skills required to handle psycho-socio problems of youth and adolescent care and counselling. JivanVigyan is an initiative to address the needs of the students pertaining to life Skills. This cell aims at acquainting and training the students in much needed core areas of health and personality development.

Yoga Sessions by Mr Soni

 

 Yoga session was conducted in Somaiya Campus for B Ed students. B Ed is a short time course, but highly stressful because there are lot activities that needs to be performed by the students. Students put their enormous efforts and hard work to perform the activities and make it successful. Understanding the stress level and pressure of the course, 'yoga' session was organized to create a relaxation from the routine schedule, to provide positive vibrations to the students. Mr. Soni was well known person in the field 'yoga' came to students to put forth the benefits of yoga. He explained the enormous benefits we get by performing yoga in our day to day life. Yoga is one of the different means by which we can keep our mind, body and soul, healthy and fit. Mr. Soni asked how we breathe, some students explained the way. He said most of the people breathe in wrong manner. He explained the right way of breathing and made students to do the same. He also performed some asanas and the benefits to different parts of our body. He showed various mudras of yoga and explained the benefits; we get by practicing the mudras and their significance and relations with different organs. He explained meditation is one of the ways which helps us to improve our concentration and increase the memory power. He made students perform meditation for 5 minutes. So that students get to know how it is beneficial for them. Meditation re-energized the students from tiredness and stress. He asked students to about the health problem they have, which can be conquered by performing yoga and meditation. Many students said they have frequent headache, back pain and joint pains. He asked students to perform different asanas which would help to reduce gradually.
